This problem has been going on for about a week or so. I'm really scared..(keep in mind, I think I'm a hypochondriac.) I'm 16 and I feel perfectly healthy, I exercise regularly and everything. But the problem is I'm never hungry. The typical day would be I get up at 530 (for school) and eat breakfast around 630 but it's not much at all. Then in school I get a little hungry around 10-11, but I don't eat lunch. It's mostly because I'm not hungry. Then I come home around 2 and eat, but it's only a sandwich or something. And at dinner, around 6, I'm not hungry but I do eat. (maybe another sandwich.) What could be wrong!?!!? :( No, I do not have an eating disorder. It's not that I don't want to eat, but I don't want to force myself either because that's not good. HELP!

OhGetReal agony auntWhat concerns me is your emotional relationship to food, you seem pretty concerned that you aren't eating enough and you don't feel hungry, yet you claim you feel hungry at times and you eat a small meal at about he same time every day.

None of us here at DearCupid can really advise you when it comes to your physical health, only a doctor can do that, and I encourage you to go see your doctor and to tell him your concerns and emphasize how worried it makes you, ask him if you can meet with a nutritionist who can help you with a meal plan and teach you about calories and food groups and eating healthy.

Exercising excessively can also dampen your appetite especially right after the exercise....it depends widely though on the duration and type of exercise...as to how it will affect your appetite. It's great that you want to work out, but don't become obsessed with it or your body image. At your age, you are probably in the normal weight zone for your size and build or so it seems.

And yes, be sure to stay hydrated.

I have had and still do have the same problem. You just don't have a very big appetite, that's all. Doesn't mean there's anything wrong with you.

I don't have a very big appetite either. I just don't feel hungry OR thirsty at all most of the time. Sometimes, I go all day without food and forget to eat and drink. I eat things for the sake of it (if it's there and because I know I have to eat), not because I'm actually hungry. My mom worries about me a lot with food, she always cooks me food and watches me eat. It's almost as if she thinks I'm anorexic secretly. She worries because I'm a vegetarian also so she knows I'm hardly getting any vitamins! I do take vitamin tablets though.

But I wouldn't worry about what you eat so much. Just make sure you're having your vitamins and drink LOTS! Waters great for everything. As long as your eating at all and you're healthy. And keep up the exercising just don't over do it. You'll be fine.
