I would really want to deliver the baby vaginally. Should I talk to my doctor about being induced before the baby gets any bigger? I would really appreciate and advice or similar experiences. Thank you!

The drugs they use to induce labor can be immensely painful, so you'll want to make sure you have all the information about that before choosing it. From the women I've talked to size of the baby actually has nothing whatsoever to do with how hard delivery is. As well, weight estimates can be off by as much as 3 lbs! You can just as easily feel pain with a 7 lb baby as a 9 lb one and most women who've had multiple children seem evenly distributed between having less trouble with the larger baby, having the same amount of trouble, or having less trouble with the smaller baby. It really doesn't seem to matter.
And what Cerberus said is 100% correct. Lying on your back is absolutely the worst possible position to give birth in. The only reason they have women do that is to make it easier on the doctor. Try talking to your doctor or a midwife about other options, such as a birthing center (usually located either in the hospital or immediately next to it in case of complications) where you can squat and walk around to get things moving. It's actually more dangerous to the baby and you to give birth on your back. They also might force a C-section on you if labor takes too long in a hospital, not because it's dangerous but because the doctor needs to be somewhere or they need the room. Try looking up a midwife for more information.

If this is your first child ask you doctor about the squat position for giving birth. It reduces/prevents tearing a lot and position utilizes gravity so you don't have to force the baby out with a lot of pushing.
For some reason stirrups and lying on your back has become normal but that's only useful for doctors to be able to get at it.
The squat position is how the body is designed to give birth.

Hi! I'm just under 5 feet tall, and had 2 children, both of my children were under 8 lbs, and that was tough enough. I had them both vaginally with no complications but... WHEW! I really wouldn't have wanted them to be much bigger! You are so close to being due anyways, I see no reason why you shouldn't ask your doctor if he could induce labor. He knows how big the baby is, what position its in, and what physical condition you are in. So why not ask? What is the worse that will happen? He'll say no. Good luck sweetie. I'm sure everything is going to be just fine. But ask ok? You'll never know if you don't try.
