i have not gotten my period in two months so last week i took two pregnancy tests and both came back positive. i started spotting a few days ago and it gradually got heavier and heavier as if i was on my period. i read that it was not uncommon to bleed while pregnant but it is uncommon to bleed this much! i figure i am going through a miscarriage. last night in the shower.. (im sorry but this will be very graphic!) a huge chunk of something (im assuming part of my uterus?!) passed through me. it was too large to go down the drain. i had to pick it up and flush it down the toilet. can someone please tell me what it possibly could have been? also, do i need to go to the clinic? can something be wrong with me? i would greatly appreciate your help!

Blue_Angel0316 agony aunt Anytime you are pregnant and you are bleeding get to a Doc quick. If it's night time and you can't get to the doc before daylight, go to the emergency room. They are trained at what to do in this case. Let them know when you arrive that you are pregnant and bleeding. This should get you seen very quickly. It is considered a real medical emergency. If you are doing more than just spotting, go to the emergency room at once! Don't wait both your life and that of your child could be at risk.

When my second child was born I had a slight trauma to my abdomen. I felt fine but a little sore. There was no pain and no other visible sign of a problem. I arrived home and went to bed as it was late and I was tired. The baby wasn't due until a few weeks later but in the early morn I awakened. I felt a rush or fluid, thinking my water had broken I woke my husband. He jumped up in excitement to take me to the hospital. When he turned on the light he gasped and said "Oh my Gosh, you're bleeding!"

It turned out my water semi broken. The amniotic fluid and blood mixture was evident. I went straight to the hospital. I almost lost my baby. When I was checked out they found that my placenta has started bulging away from the internal walls to which is was attached causing the bleeding. Had I not acted quickly I would probably have lost the baby. I had an emergency c-section,my life was at stake because it was causing me to hemorrage.

If you are now reading this PLEASE get up and GO!

May God be watching over you and your precious little Angel. Godspeed

DrPsych agony auntIt does sound like you are having a miscarriage...it happened to me at Christmas time. Minor bleeding is possible in early pregnancy but any bleeding requires investigation. See a doctor to get an ultrasound done - it will check for a babies heart beat which should be detectable after 6 weeks of pregnancy. If you have had a miscarriage it is important to make sure the contents of the womb are completely emptied - it sometimes happens naturally and sometimes requires a d&c procedure. Either way you need to get some medical attention.

It does sound like a miscarriage. Yes of course you need to be seen by a professional. Remeber 10% of pregnancies end in miscarriage in the 1st trimester but this does not mean that you will have a miscarriage the next time you get pregnant.
