A male reader, anonymous, writes (26 May 2011):

Go see a doctor. It is embarrassing, but not to an ob/gyn. My gf once had unusual bleeding and stressed more a month that it might be some sort of cancer like cervical. She was too scared to go to the doctor. Finally, she went. She said she was really, really embarrassed to admit her problem. The doctor was a sweet woman who guessed the problem almost immediately. They ran a few tests right there and she did have an infection. She was prescribed a pill and it went away quickly. If she would have gone sooner she would have saved herself a lot of grief (she was sobbing uncontrollably at one point) and worry.

Do not have sex again until you go to the doctor and schedule an appointment today! You will feel a lot better that you did. It is worth the 10 minutes of feeling uncomfortable.
