Probably he texts multiple women, and just lost track? Keep your eyes open on that one.

What is the context? What was the text about?? "Hey Chick", and then what did he say?? What has he said before? Has he been flirty with you in the past? Does he get flirty with a lot of people? Is he outgoing or gregarious? All of those things will tell you how to take it.
I'd think it's safe to say that "Hey Chick" wasn't meant to convey anything special. It's one of those throwaway greetings like the x's and o's some people like to put in their texts and emails. They didn't really mean to kiss and hug..they just threw it in there.

I don’t think it’s any of the things you listed, it’s a greeting, nothing more.
The same as:
‘Hey mate/pal’
‘Hey love/darling’
Wouldn’t read anything into it

I think this sort of thing is very subjective. As with anything said/written, it often depends greatly on who sends it and who receives it.
Personally (and I am older than you) I would see it as a cute compliment, nothing more. He's probably heard it somewhere and decided to use it. It's no biggie.

I don’t think it was flirty, just neutral. To be honest, very few women like to be called “chick”, especially past 25. If you’re reading into it, though, it seems you may be curious about more from him?

A

It depends on the context whether it was meant in a negative-sense. If you were having a little bit of a tiff, it was sarcasm. If you were being flirty, he was sort of calling you a "young girl;" in the tender-young sense of the expression.
If he had a few drinks, it was out of line; and he was being a jerk.
I don't think it's respectful or age-appropriate no matter how he meant it.
He has no class.

Hey chick?
It's like "you there"! I'd answer it with, yo dude! Or what's up bro?!
See how he likes those terms.
I don't think I would read too much into it, however, I certainly wouldn't think he was flirting or being endearing. But I don't think he was trying to offend either.
Not a charmer, this one...
