I've done my research (more than enough of it!), spoken to the nurses at the family planning clinic, had my swabs taken - technically I'm good to go, and fingers crossed my period will show up in time to make the procedure easier. But I'm so frightened. The only person who knows I'll be having this done is my long distance boyfriend (of 2 years) who lives in France. I really don't want to go through this alone but I don't have anyone else to confide in :( How can I keep calm about the whole thing? Does anybody have any relaxation tips? I'm not usually this much of a baby, but the closer my appointment gets the more I fret.Thank you for your help 3

I would of course advise against an IUD at your age (always better after having had kids, phsiologically speaking) so perhaps another method of contraception might be better for you. Of course it is your decision ultimately.

I have been there, and it is no doubt uncomfortable.
Ask if you can have some painkillers before hand, and the nurses will be really good so you will be okay alone. Be brave, a little discomfort is nothing compared to unplanned pregnancy.
