I’m just wondering if I should wish my ex a Happy New Year

Hiya,

Me and my ex were together for a year (my first boyfriend and the one I lost my virginity to) and we broke up the at the beginning of October this year~ it was mutual between us and he called me up to say it~ we had both gone off to different towns far away for uni and after 2 weeks we decided that a LDR wasn’t working. I told him that I’d like to still be friends in the future, and we don’t hate each other but I’d have to delete him off facebook so it wouldn’t hurt as badly and he understood. A month later, I started going out with another boy and I absolutely love him to bits, I’m certain he’s not a rebound and he is perfect in so many ways and we’re still together and intend to be for a long time.

I’m just wondering whether to wish my ex a Happy New Year or would it seem a little strange as we’ve not had any contact for a couple of months and would he think I want him back? I noticed in some fairly recent photos of him I saw on someone elses’ facebook, he was still wearing a bracelet I gave him (which made me happy seeing this), so I don’t know if he just generally likes it or he still thinks of me and has some hidden feelings for me? If that’s the case I don’t want to hurt him by giving him false hope by getting in contact with him. I really have no desire or intention of getting back together with him and would just like to wish him a Happy New Year.

Thanks for reading ^_^

I dont think it would do any harm to wish him a happy new year. I mean, also, I dont think he would take offense to you not wishing him a happy new year. If you do, and he starts up contact after that, make sure not to lead him on. I doubt he'd get the wrong idea though.
