Question - (21 October 2009) 14 Answers - (Newest, 23 October 2009)
A female United States age 30-35, anonymous writes:

Ok so my boyfriend is 18, I'm 15 we have been talking about having sex but we are extremely worried about the laws, my mom is ok with it so really we wouldn't get intto trouble but we want to be as safe as possible. I have looked up missouri laws and it says its illegal if one party is over 21 and the other is under 17 and its illegal if one is over 18 and the other is under 14 but I'm still not sure. Would some one look up these laws too and tell me what you think please. I found that info in chapter 566.034 and 566.032

UPDATE :) every thing is good :) I looked it up again and had my moms policeman friend look he said we were in the clear. The law states "566.032 1. A person who commits the crime of statutory rape in the first degree if he has sexual intercourse with another person who is less than fourteen years old" 566.034 states "a person commits statutory rape in the second degree if being 21 years of age or older, he has had sexual intercourse with another person who is less than seventeen years of age" so basicly he isn't 21 so it will be ok and I'm not under 14 so another good thing

sunnycomet agony auntIf you don't trust anyone's answer on this my advice is to call the police station and ask them. Do it using a payphone or something like that if you wish to be anonymous.

Good Luck!

The only reason my mom is ok with it is because I came to here about the situation and she likes him. There are preventions for stds and pregnancy I am not a stupid girl. Lol. But idk the laws are confusing because the age of concent has been rewritten

A female reader, sunnycomet Canada +, writes (21 October 2009):

sunnycomet agony auntI'm sorry, because you are 15 I thought you were a virgin. Since you are not a virgin then I am sure you know all of the risks of having sex.

Anyway, yes I know for a fact that the law clearly states it is illegal.

A female reader, sunnycomet Canada +, writes (21 October 2009):

sunnycomet agony auntYes it is illegal. Better answer? lol But really you should wait. Like degrassi already said there is other risks. Like STDS and pregnancy. I am slightly worried about the fact your mother is fine with it. Just one time having sex can change your life forever. Think very carefully if it is worth it.

Ok I'm not trying to be rude but that's how its going to come out, I'm not asking for someone to tell me that I'm not ready, I am, I have already lost my virginity about 6 mos ago. Any ways, we are ready for that step, and I'm not asking for someone to tell me what they think the law is, I ask that someone will look it up (missouri laws chapter 566.034 and 566.032) so please only answer what I ask I'm sorry for being a jerk but I'm not looking insight here

It's illegal, so you must wait. You don't want him jailed and worse beign labelled as a sex offender.

A reader, anonymous, writes (21 October 2009):

It may not be the best idea for you at this age...I am 16 and I know what he is after. I don't think your ready hun. So many people regret the decision after it happens and the risks( std's, pregnancy, etc.) I would say wait untill your absolutely positive your ready. I think the law is you both have to be over 18 or it is rape(since ur younger.)

Maybe you should wait so so sorry hun.

sunnycomet agony auntPlease wait til you are legal enough to have sex. Jail plus the title your boyfriend would get is not worth the risk.
