We have been in a long distance relationship from the very beginning. He lives about 3 hours away and we see each other about once a month, occasionally a little more. When he's gone it seems like it's always a struggle to get him to talk to me. He hates the phone and if we ever talk on AIM we usually have a misunderstanding of some sort where one of us was joking about something and the other gets hurt. When I do see him it's a different story entirely. He is an amazing guy in person. I just don't know how to make the periods of time when we're seperated more tolerable in between visits. I will most likely be attending the same college as him next year, but I would love to actually be consistently happy until the time when we can finally be together without the distance. Any suggestions?

reader, anonymous, writes (18 March 2009): Your lucky, My LDR lives 3,000 miles away and we see each other about once every six months. We love each other dearly, but a Long Distance Relationship is very difficult! We talk almost every night for about 2 hours. We have lots of disagreements, and misunderstandings! But when we are together...the world stops turning and it's just the two of us!
You have to realize that it takes lots of patience to have a successful LDR! I seriously doubt if I would ever let myself get into one again. It is frustrating to want to be with a person so much and have so many obstacles standing in the way! Sometimes we take that out on eachother! Not intentionally of course.
We all want to be consistently happy. Hang in there, and keep looking forward!
