A male reader, leonard j.Douglas Philippines +, writes (23 July 2007):

Hi! You first off you are at the age of legal consent, so what you do in any relationship is up to you. You don't say to what degree your Cousin is related to you. However it is only the 1st cousin relationship the can induce RGD, or (Recessive Genetic Disorders). And beyond 1st cousin there is little chance of RGD occurring. The UK doesn't prohibit 1st cousin marriage. With second cousin marriage there is a lower ratio of miscarriages, seeing as both couples have the same body chemistry. As for your mother's consent, You don't need it. But then you two cannot live in your relational Limbo, but your lives come first, not your family. And if you two really love each other you'll find a way, with or without your families.
