I have accepted them, as they are all people I have had several conversations with and get on well with. However, this one guy who is lovely in real life is incredibly annoying on facebook. We have been friends on facebook for two days and already I have had 14 different messages from him and he calls me Hun, babes ect. As soon as I come online he sends multiple messages, each one punctuated by several kisses. I replied to the first three messages being careful not to lead him on but started making excuses why I had to go after that as it was too aggrevating. Basicaly what I am getting at is; how can I reamin friendly at work but avoid this constant bombardment? I don't want to make things awkward but I'm getting scared of going onto facebook!

I've disabled chat on facebook, it was too annoying.
14 messages over 2 days ... that would have me rolling my eyes like crazy. YOu could try and make a joke out of it -- "wow, too many messages I cant keep up!" and dont answer any more until he gets to the point of only one every day or so.

I personally deal with this kind of thing by just appearing off line in chat window and disguising my posts from certain people. If he asks you at work why u don't reply every time- just say that u don't have time and that u don't go on much. Remember by replying each time you are making him happy but not you- why does he deserve to be more important than you. Forget feeling bad for not replying- be polite of course but don't encourage him by replying each time. Don't worry, he's the freak not u and you owe him nothing! He will get the message eventually- Good luck :)
