I'm considering getting my cartilage pierced and was wondering how it's done, i.e. do they numb the ear first, use a needle or gun? And also with me being a female, am I supposed to get the piercing done in my left or right ear, or does it even matter? (You know, like if a guy get's one ear pierced it's meant to go in the left ear?). Thank you :-) Reply to this Question Share |

hmm you can get what ever one you want pierced i recomend both. as to how its done well i did both of my ears when i was 12 with a sewing needle and ice to numb it, one swole up got infected the hole closed i did it again and havnt had a problem since more recently i did another one because one of my hole wasnt lined up as good so i just put two in that ear i just used the pin from an american flag pendant you kno the kind all the politicians wear i used ice and pushed it through haven't had a problem. What ever you do make sure everything is sterile personally im a man i can pierce my own ear lol i dont need some fancy gun in africa you have to kill a lion to become a man.

not anymore, left or right or both is all the same anymore. it used to be right ear mean gay for guys, but i don't think this exist.
and i don't think that they numb your ear. but you may numb it on your own before you go in like 30 minutes or so. there is cream called EMLA (you may search it) that is used to that purpose.
my GF (wife now) used it before she got her tattoos done, and she didn't feel a thing.
