Hi i have a bit of a problem on my hands...

You see i'm 12 and in sixth grade and ever since 5th grade i've always considered myself fat.I was so upset about it last year i stopped eating and then got very sick but lost a lot of weight and looked almost the way i wanted to look so i started eating regular again and now i think i look fat again...

None of my friends think i'm fat but i do and it hurts a lot of the time to see myself in the mirrior.I am around 5'5 and weigh about 124 pounds i'm going to stop eating completely until i know i look skinny. Is their anything bad that could happen to me?I tried asking my mom if i could go on a diet but she said no.I think going on a diet is too hard anyway...

Please tell me if you think i'm fat or not...

and

Thank you guys for all the help...

O.k first things first, you are not fat for your height. You are perfectly normal. As a twelve year old, it is ridiculous to put yourself on a diet be it extreme or mild. If you stop eating, you will have no energy, and so will loose the ability to complete school work, play sport and socialise with your friends. Also, if you stop eating, after a while, your body begins to compensate and you won't loose anymore weight. If you want to tone up, you should try more excersise which often makes you feel happier, healtier and raises self esteem. It is too early to judge your body as until you have gone through your teenage years, your body will not have determined its eventual shape.

Danielle934 agony auntHow could you ask if anything bad will happen to you when last time you tried to do this you got really sick? Of course really bad things could happen to you... especially since you are only 12! Your body is just starting to grow into adulthood, and your body needs so many nutrients to maintain healthy growth. So many girls your age are doing this to their body, 1 in 10 ends up dieing! Being 5'5 and weighing 124 is perfectly normal, and since you are only 12 you will grow taller. Have you ever thought about why puppies have so much fat on them? It is because they need it, soon their bodies start growing, then finally when they are full grown they hardly have any extra fat at all. You may look in the mirror and think you are fat, but it is most likely baby fat (which you loose in your teens naturally and can’t force yourself to loose). The best thing for you to do is to be more active, start jogging and doing crunches, that is what I did at 14, and I saw great improvements! There are way too many things to list that could happen to you if you stop eating.

Please go to this website and look at the chart further down the page!

I hope you are smart enough to make the right choice.
