I am currently 31 weeks pregnant with my second child (though my first was born at 28 weeks). I am finding it extremely difficult to cope with the movements and often end up in tears. The movements are constant, uncomfortable and unexpected. I really do not like the way it feels. Yes, I understand that it is a good thing to feel the baby move as it shows that it is healthy but I dont feel naturally happy with it. I have spoken to friends, family and health profeesional who cannot understand me. I was wondering if there was anyone in my shoes and if there was any advice to help me throught this. Thankyou x Reply to this Question Share |

Hello. No it is not unusual to be in pain with the movements, though it shouldnt last too long, usually its at the worst in the change over from second to third trimester, which is where you are now.
Try to put up with it for a few more weeks.
However if it really does get increadably uncomfortable, to the point where you cannot stand another movement, or if the pains become shooting pains rather than aches and dull thuds, then you really do need to talk to a midwife. You need to go to one in a hospital, where you can get scans and blood tests done, there are a few complications and some bacterial diseases (eg strep b) where you can become increadably painful and will need to be treated immediatly or you and your child could be in danger.
The only other thing, aside from the change in trimester and possable infections or complications, is are you small framed? If so its possable your child is large and your body is struggling to accomadate it, again this will pass as your body catches up with the growth of your baby, it will catch up as your babys growth will begin to slow down soon.
I think you need to ask yourself if its bearable or not, if not then somethings wrong, if it is then it will probably resolve itself.
The other question of course is how long have you been feeling the pain? If its for a week or two then I wouldnt worry overly, unless again its unbearable, but if you have had it more than two weeks, then its time to pop to the hospital for the same reason as if its unbearable.
I hope that has helped, if you need anymore advice at all, please please dont hesitate to ask xxx
