It really helps if you're relaxed and comfortable, if you can trust the guy. If it starts hurting go back one step. Just take your time and it'll be fine.
I agree with the others though, if you're not 100% that you want to do it, don't do it. There's no rush, you have all your life to have sex.

my first time did not hurt, it probably did not feel like it does now, but if it is pain you are worried about I cannot say it hurts. I believe it was the same with my friends, it was not traumatic, unless it was with the wrong person.
You need to ask him to be gentle and to slow down every time you ask him too. If he cares, he will and you should not have to worry about any pains.
The only thing that worries me is that I don't think it is the pain you worry about, maybe you think that he is not the one you would want or feel confortable enough to loose your virginity too. He should not pressure you, however it is normal he would like to have sex with you.
Take your time, sex is a wonderfull thing when it is done right with the right person, the first time is not perfect but it just gets better.

i will suggest don't do it if you are not a hundred percent ready. that is not the only way you can express your love to your boyfriend. it is painful i know you want that questioned answered. are you sure the pain is the only thing that is stopping you?
