A male United States age 30-35, *sher94 writes:

What you are about to read was quite quickly written so please try to make sense of what i wrote lol.

So here is my position, i recently moved to a new area and i started volunteering at a Vet Clinic and Humane Society because i love animals because i want to become a VET. So the girl i like is the Vet's daughter, and me and her have quite a lot in common. She likes to become a vet (just like me), likes to act/drama (same here) and there are some others which i will not list. Anyway I'm 16 years old and i thought she was at least 14-15 but later i found out that she was actually 12/13. When i found out about this 3 year difference i was heartbroken. But i still look quite childish and she's only a couple cm smaller than me. I'm not like the other guys who talk about the girls figure, how badly you want to have sex with her etc. I respect the opposite sex and i'm not judgmental, i strive to be a virgin until i am married.

Her parents like me quite a lot, we have been invited to their house like a couple of times(party's). The girl i like talks quite often with me when i am over, and when i got introduced to her brother he said that she talked about me at home. I really like her and i don't want to hurt anybody so i am prepared to wait but it's quite difficult. Since I a 16 year old guy asking a 13 yr old would seem quite pedo-ish,plus her parents are basically my boss and neighbors (couple of doors down). Then when i was talking with them at a party they said why don't you join the acting place and u should see my daughter perform next week.

*party's = none alcoholic (just to clear future questions up, i don't drink btw)

I really don't know what to do, i live in quite a small town so if i screw up my reputation is ruined.

If I were you, I wouldn't worry about a two year age difference. If both of you enjoy spending time together, and you have similar interests then there's no reason why it shouldn't work. But there is the option of staying friends for a few years and seeing how things pan out. If you still like her then, you'll still have the choice to act on your feelings. You seem like a mature guy, you don't drink and you're not dying to have sex but if things don't go as planned, it could be awkward. But you know your own situation so I think you know better than any of us what the right thing to do is.

Whatever you decide to do, I hope it works out for you. Good luck!

xAx agony auntJust read your update and i dated someone 2 years older when i was 14. It was good but the only problem was communication. Make sure that it's good between both of you, that she isn't afraid to speak her mind.

xAx agony auntI think that you should be in her life more. Go and watch her perform. Maybe you could join her? I think that you should wait til she's older. 3 years at her age is a big difference. She cannot have sex while you can. Wait til she is more mature.

Update to my question!

I just checked and she isn't 3 yrs younger...she's 2 yrs younger. Also is it illegal in the US to date someone younger than you?

3 years is massive at your age. Leave this girl alone, she is only a child.
