Im 16, my boyfriend and i have been together for year+ , he is amazing and ive never felt in away towards anyone as i do for him, hes helped me through so much, we've talked about engagement but we just dont want to cause the drama with our parents, even though my mom got married at 17, but its your choice at 16 and 17 years old if you make that choice right? What is really your rights on this subject at 16?

You can get engaged whenever you want. If you are in love and want to get engaged, go for it hunny!

If you dont want drama between your parents, just wait to tell them.

What parents dont know, doesnt hurt them;D

Helples agony auntI like to think once you're engaged with someone, you can start living with that person immediately after you two get married. But that'll be pretty tough to do at the age of 16/17 considering the bills of living in a house, balancing school and a job, etc... How about a promise ring instead? It's like a pre-engagement ring. This way, it's not so much as the real thing but very similar and it causes no drama between parents.
