What confuses me is that i've had sex previously, again more than once at a time, and I have never had these pains before. I'd also like some advice on the pill. I started my period at the age of about 10, when my periods were regular and stable. At the age of about 15, my periods became irregular and I now never know when they're going to come. There is no pattern or cycle whatsoever. My step mum told me that if I was to go on the pill, it wouldn't work properly because of this. Is this true? Because obviously she's not of a medical profession and I don't know whether it's just because she doesn't want to be seen as encouraging me to have sex. Help please!

If you are uncomfortable, find a female gynecologist. And if you need referral from your family doctor, simply explain that you are experiencing abnormal lower pelvic cramps and irregular periods. You can tell the gyne about the specifics (ie pain arising after sex) later.

Go see a gynocologist who can examine you and make sure nothing is out of sorts down there. They can also talk some sense into your step mom about the REAL facts about the pill.
Truth is, while it may be hard to track you period, you have a couple of options for starting the pill. The doc can write a prescription and you can fill it and have it ready for when you do start your period. I take Ortho-tricyclin Lo, and can either start on the first day of my period, or on the first Sunday of my period. The pill will regulate your cycle, though your body will need about a month to get used to it.
About the sex cramps, I have found that sometimes my BF hits my cervix, which you don't always feel during sex, but you do feel after wards. Still, go to the doctor and make sure everything is ok. Since you're sexually active, you should be having regular check ups.

I always feel completely embarrassed by going to the doctor about this sort of thing, although I know I shouldn't. Out of interest, they don't start sticking their hand everywhere do they? Or is it a scan or something? I know it sounds really stupid, but I really don't have a clue.

They are not "stomach" cramps though, but more towards the lower pelvic region, resembling menstrual cramps sometimes.Turns out that I have a cyst growing in one of my ovaries, and one of the symptoms of ovarian cysts is pain during and after sex.I would suggest you to go to your family doctor with your question, because it is abnormal to experience cramps after sex.
