I didn't get far and got out almost straight away. This happened about 2 years ago but for some reason, for the last week i've been worrying almost constantly that I could have caught HIV from an old needle that could have been left in it... the odds are pretty small and I know I'm just being paranoid. My health is fine. I never get colds or any illnesses. The thought just strikes me down sometimes. My friend says I'm being silly because the infection can't survive in water but you know, it still worries me. I didn't feel anything in the water and there were no puncture wounds afterward. My left foot just became very itchy afterward. Can anyone put my mind at ease? I'm probably just being silly.

Nah you wont have HIV. If your foot became itchy its probably bacteria in the water irritating the skin (which is a nuisance but is harmless enough).
The only way you could've caught HIV from the fountain is if you had stood on a needle or something sharp which had the HIV virus on it and it would need to puncture the skin for it to be able to enter your body.
As you have no puncture wounds (and im pretty sure you would notice if you had just stood on a needle in your bare feet!) then you're safe.
But you could go to the doctor to get a test done just to put your mind 110% at rest and get rid of the "what if.." feeling.
take care

If there are no puncture wounds and such then there is no chance of you catching HIV. Don't worry. You should go and get it checked out by a doctor if it's itchy though, but I'm sure you don't have HIV. If you didn't feel anything and there are no puncture wounds then how could you have caught HIV?Wishing you the best.xxx
