 I proposed to my wife just before new years, when the whole family was over. It was the first time she had met them all (we live in a different city), and it was my way to proving that I was serious about her to all of them. Just be ware of relatives that have disapproving comments due to their own issues and jealousy. One of the best and worst weekends of my life.

 How about taking her out to a nice posh restraunt really spoile her and tell her your feelings then go back to your house where you have had a friend light loads and loads of candles and put flowers every where and rose petals every where and just as she s looking really shocked get down on one knee tell her exactly what she means to you.
Just do it when the moment feels right it doesnt have to be romantic it just has to be the perfect moment, although when my friend got engaged her fiancee took her out and the reacted there first date and at the end he brought her a single red rose and the ring was hidden insde.
