A female Australia age 41-50, anonymous writes:

I am a little confused. Have been seeing this man for a few weeks now and things were going really well until the last few days... he came late to a planned date and has not been texting me quite as much as usual. We were talking on the phone every night for hours at a time but then the last two days this has just stopped pretty much apart from the odd text here and there. Cant think of anything that has happened to make him just change like this.

He is 37 and I am 30 so I would of thought if he just wasn't interested he would have the decency to call me or tell me to my face if hes not interested.

His daughter passed away just over a week ago so I thought maybe its all caught up with him and am trying to give him a little space but I dont know I'm really confused and scared to get my heart broken. I just want him to tell me if hes not interested. I want to talk to him but dont know what to say without coming across to harsh and strong.

A male reader, Avg Man United States +, writes (15 June 2009):

You are silly! If he just lost his daughter, that must be taking up much of his time, thoughts and energy! Give him a few weeks to grieve and get things in order. A new romantic relationship is probably not his priority this week. I recommend you text him once or twice a week. Tell him you are praying for him and his family. Tell him what a pleasure it was being with him but stress how sorry you are about the loss of his loved one. Then just relax and trust God to decide whether he is the right man for you. If you start to push...you will likely push him away. AM
