A female Australia age 30-35, anonymous writes:

Anyone's help would be great.... basically I really want to change my ways! I'm eighteen and I don't want to drink anymore at least not for a long time. I know i don't have a drinking problem, but i do notice that when i go out i do lots of shots or drink that i'm drunk or not far from it. I know it sounds stupid, but when i'm drunk i feel more sociable and enjoy myself more than if i was sober like any other drunk person, which in fact doesn't make me feel good when i think about it.

It's just i see other girls when they are drunk, and i think i don't want to be like that, that is not attractive at all!! In fact i think some guys talk to them mainly because they know they're loose that night from the alcohol! I hear most guys say they're attracted and would rather talk to the girl who was sober than the one who'd been drinking? ....

Anyways, I've said a few times that i'm not drinking for a long time, and lasted just over a week! Its when i see my friends raving and having fun doing shots my moods shoots down because i can't enjoy that unless i drink. I have had really good nights out when sober, but i want to completely stop drinking altogether!!

(please nobody suggest rehab or those classes, because it's not that disastrous. I just want to do this myself but i don't know how!!??)

Thats not stupid, it is why 99% of teenagers drink for.

Tell your friends you do not want to drink any more, so that they do not offer you drinks or encourage you use alcohol. If they laugh at you, then they are inmature :)

Good luck! You are definitely not close to any serious situation ONE BIT. Dont worry
