Yes, it's right.
I think it's important to share you plans with her. Tell her how you feel, I am sure she will agree with you, as long as you let her know. Honesty is the best thing in a relationship. I think that 2 years is pretty fair. You need to get ready emotionally, and financially. It makes sense to me.

Sure you can propose and tell her you want a long engagement for whatever reason. To comfortably plan a wedding (who am I kidding it's so stressful), your bride will need a year to get everything in order. 2 years should be plenty of time to plan a wedding.
