I really like him but I want my parents to be happy and approve of the guys I date. I know I am of the age to date who I want but I am not sure what to do.We have similar interests. Though sometimes he is a complete idiot and too busy for me. WHen I mean idiot I mean he tries to be funny but he's not and he is horrible with grammar and english which makes it hard to understand him at times.I enjoy being with him and dont really want to call it off.but at the same time, I feel like I should but I am scared I will regret it.What should I do? I dont want to make a bad decision because I am so confused right now. Reply to this Question Share |

i have a friend who is 18 and she's currently going out with a guy who's 35.
Her parent's know about it, even like him, met him and all, and even bring her over to spend the night at his place.
Just to say that even though the age difference is big, doesn't mean your parents will appreciate him less because of it. and maybe once they meet him, they'll feel more at ease because they know him.

Relax. You don't need your parents approval unless you are planning on marrying the guy.
You do need your OWN approval. Do you really want to be around a guy that you have to make excuses for or worry about? It sounds like you have a sexual attraction to him; but that your intellect sees things that you don't approve of - and he makes you feel smaller and ignored, not treated like someone special - as a woman who is adored should.
Love is difficult. Try to choose with your heart AND your head. The excuses in your letter for how he treats you are really screaming to me in Capital Letters. Don't ignore your instincts. Perhaps your greatest fear is that your parents might have a point?

Here is what you do sux up your pride and invite him over. I think he’ll impress them. Don’t sell your guy short. The more they see him and his corny jokes the more they’ll like him.
