A female United States age 22-25, anonymous writes:

So there is this boy at my new school. He's older, but I'm not sure how much older. I think 11th or 12th but it could be 10th or even 9th. Our school is 7th to 12th. I'm in 7th. I see him at lunch and sometimes in the halls. I have a huge crush on him. Yesterday I smiled at him and he said Hey!. Like he actually noticed me before! What should I do? I thought about finding out who he is by getting him to buy some girl scout cookies, but then I worried if that would be too little girl. I don't think he has a girlfriend because there isn't one girl he always sits with at lunch. Today I kind of followed him after lunch and found out where his locker is. Not the exact one because I wasn't very close. He was with a friend. Now it is break and we don't have school for a week but after break I want to make my move only I don't know what my move should be. I don't want to seem pushy or little girly or slutty or embarrass him with my crush but I know there is no way he is ever going to ask a 7th grader out on his own.

I am kind of a popular girl in 7th grade. I'm a cheerleader and play volleyball and ride. My best friends are mostly the girls in girl scouts with me. They all get good grades, like As and Bs. They are nice, not mean or clickish. I volunteer with an 11 year old down syndrome girl twice a week. Sometimes more if I have time, or I take her riding. She absolutely loves horses. She is in 4th grade. I consider her my friend and none of my other friends ever teases me or her.

I am allowed to date starting this year. I have gone out with two boys so far but the longest was for a week. One was in 9th grade. My parents wouldn't freak if I dated an older boy I don't think. They would just want to talk with us. My parents are super cool as far as accepting me and being supportive but they are not the kind of people that have any clue about the world, so don't suggest I talk to them for advice. I am not ready for sex. I have gotten my period. I have breasts but they are not very big. I am tall and people often think I am older. I have been kissed but not really kiss kissed. I love The Hunger Games and Harry Potter. I hate Twilight.

Please if anyone has any advice, especially older girls about how to get this boy to notice me but not in a bad way please post a reply. Thank you.

Sincerely Yours agony auntYou sound very well rounded and intelligent. I would love to know what your parents did to raise such a young lady. Please tell.

As far as the boy, I think you should start with more chatting. You should be sure that you like him not only from afar, but up close and speaking. Try to strike up some conversations and if there's chemistry, I am sure he will ask you out!
