writes: Hi,i'm Chris (17) an i have a female friend (17)called Sam, we are friends and have become very close lately, she has had a few problems and she pushes people away sometimes because she thinks people don't care about her, she is such a beautiful girl and last week she told me she is falling in love with me which is what i want too and she thinks i don't feel the same but i do and we have told each other that we want to be together and that we want to be more than friends, but she is going through a tough time at the moment and she is sorta pushing me away thinking i don't care when i do, i care about her so much, just at the moment her parents are getting divorced and she is finding it hard and i don't know what to do or say to her. does anyone have any suggestions for something like this?thanxs, Chris

This is not about you. She is going through a tough time and wants to be able to lash out and know that someone does care. She knows you care, and she pushes you away because it makes her feel secure that you come back. She is feeling like the world is a very unstable place and needs to be assured that you are stable, and that you will actually be there for her. Don't stress. Just stay stable and calm and reassure her and it will pay off later. Time heals all wounds.
