I have a problem at school (not bullying) but I don't think this site can help me. Can anyone give me a site which I can speak to like Dear Cupid but for school. Its just that I have sent in an application to go to uni and I think I might have lied on my personal statement (I said I do things that I no longer do like play football). can anyone give me a site to talk to or can someone tell me if I have lied on my statement - by mentioneing stuff I no longer do?

maxsteel86 agony auntLying on your personal statement is no big deal so long as you can back it up. I remember my university interviews two years back, nothing I said on my personal statement other than the parts relevant to the course I was gonna study were even mentioned.

what you did is really not a problem. What you did probably wont even count as lying! Dont worry about it

I wouldnt worry too much hun about no longer liking football. Peoples tastes and pass times change all the time a university isnt going to give you place based only on you playing football! even if they look at as you are part of a team it doesnt matter that you no longer are they can see that you are able to be part of a team! I wouldnt worry too much. the universites are more interested in A level results than most other things!

so dont worry and enjoy your time at uni as im sure ull get there xxx san xx

DrPsych agony auntOk you didn't tell the whole truth, but liking football or not won't affect your application that much unless you have applied to do something like sports sciences. It is your A'level grades that matter, and the references you got from your teachers. There is a message board on ivillage that deal with student/ educational stuff so try there if you want. I work in a British University and I can tell you that lots of people exaggerate on their applications - it is an unfortunate fact of life in this competitive world we live in. Try not to worry!

honestly... i think everyone lies a tiny bit on their personal statement!! I totally over-exaggerated my passion for the subject I was applying for.. but hey, i got offers so who cares!
