reader, anonymous, writes (30 November 2007): Please don't stress just yet! You are only very young, and at an age where your hormones have not kicked in fully as they would in an older woman. It can sometimes be normal for younger girls to have very light periods that may only last a day. Obviously the only way you can tell is by having a test, which you should do just in case. But I think you should be fine

If you have had sex, if you used a condom and it broke, or if he came inside you without a condom, sure - you could be pregnant. It's hard to tell from one symptom. The best thing to do is get a drugstore pregnancy kit and follow the directions EXACTLY.
Your Mom may have said that she would kill you, but I can assure you that she loves you and it would probably be best to tell her and ask for her help. I would help my daughter through this, I would be dissapointed, but I'd want to help her. It sounds like you need an adult to explain about contraception and transmission of diseases that can affect your health and future fertility (REALLY important, I know women who became infertile and never had children because of STD's). I always told my son and daughter to wait until Uni because it's SO much easier on you to have an intimate relationship then. High school can be difficult and it's not fun running into someone who has dumped you after kissing, let alone having had sex with them. You might want to reconsider being sexually active if you don't understand your reproductive cycle and contraception. Having sex within a relationship requires being responsible, and THAT is why your Mom is pissed.
Hope things work out for you. You are young and periods can be a bit sporadic, but don't put things off and not get a pregnancy test. If you are pregnant, TIME IS IMPORTANT and you will run out of choices soon. No one is ever just a little pregnant. Get tested. You should also consider getting screened for diseases on a regular basis if you are going to be sexually active, to protect yourself and your partner.
I hope this is just a scare for you and that you are not pregnant. We've all had them. It's important to be more responsible in the future. ALWAYS use a condom (no matter what the guy says). I told both my kids to use them until marriage, even if they were in a solid relationship. Get some more information and try to slow down, you are still very young. Take good care of yourself. Stop wondering and get your bottom down to the drug store and buy and EPT pregnancy test. READ THE DIRECTIONS thoroughly and find out once and for all instead of WONDERING. And your mother is NOT going to kill you. She's be pissed but she's not going to kill you. I went through the same situation when i was a young lady. First things first.. get a pregnancy test. Borrow the money from a friend to buy it if you have to. they are only about $10.00

hey! ok first of all calm down. the more het up you get the worse it will be. first of all you know when youre pregnant because you dont get any blood at all. at least you are getting something. go out and buy a pregnancy test or even 2 just to be extra sure. and your mum was probably hinting at you to not have sex and be careful etc but im sure she will be really supportive. so yes first of all take a couple of pregnancy tests and if you are pregnant then calmy tell your mum. and please if you need anymore help please feel free to mail me.lolelliexxx
