writes:dear cupid, ive done somethin really stupid, i told my friends i was goin out with this guy when i really wasnt because i was so sick of them bragging about there own love lives, now my friend added the guy i sed i was goin out with on msn and shes asked him if hes goin out with me and hes sed no obviosly, im so worried what an idiot i am going look, every one is goin laff at me :( is there any way i cud get out of this? please help!!!!!!!!!1

reader, anonymous, writes (30 April 2008): This is verified as being by the original poster of the questioni was so worried about going school today but as soon as i got there i told my real friends what happened and they were really supportive and totaly understood why i did it, so i jus held my head high and acted as if i didnt care what the other girls thought thought i quite proud of myself actually and as for the guy what a stupid person i was to actually think he was a nice guy wen actually hes a total prick x

He definitely won't hate you. At worst he'll make those snorty grumpy noises that men make when they are pretending to be annoyed. Even if he doesn't want to go out with you, he'll still be flattered that you could imagine yourself going out with him - and more flattered still that going out with him would impress all the other girls. That's the way young men's minds work. In his mind he would like to see himself as irresistibly attractive to all girls. So there's absolutely no way he'll hate you for it - you're boosting his ego up a few notches!

Laugh with them if they laugh, and don't worry about it. We all end up looking like idiots at some time or other, and if they're real friends they won't do any more than joke about it anyway.
Just a thought (prompted by the post from Nikkii), but why don't you tell him what you did and say you're sorry for being so silly? He'll hear sooner or later, probably, so tell him first - and it might be just the prompt that's needed for him to ask you out. If that's what you want, of course...

hey! i think you should just tell yer friends the truth! tell them that u didnt like the fact they kept going on about their own love lives and tell them that u just said that so u didn feel left out anymore! then the being yer friends should hopefully tell that guy that they got the wrong end of the stick and consider your feeling from now on! you never know if your friends said they got the wrong end of the stick and act like u said u only liked this guy... it could end up being not a lie! :)
