I'm sorry about what happened to you, i can't imagine how it must feel to be attacked like that and the fact that you are doing self defence and martial arts is good, because youre at least trying to learn how to fight back and not take this, so that's a start. Being paranoid after an attack like this is normal and a natural reaction. but i bet your friends are taking the piss because theyre teenage boys and they don't know what to say and how to react and theyre probably scared silly themselves about it.
One of my friends recently got attacked and held at knifepoint and was mugged. his friends took the piss too, saying " oh i would have punched him!!" No, they wouldn't... they'd have been scared witless too. My friend experienced a few months of fear and anxiety and panic after the attack, and hes 29. I told my boyfriend what happened to my friend and said he'd experienced pistaking and my boyfriend admitted he'd be scared too. My boyfriend has been doing martial arts for many years now and he said that even at a high level of martial arts the advice when somebody has got a knife is to RUN! they have done classes where they fight with swords or knives and even the sensei has been hurt- and thats with plastic weapons. My boyfriend told me if he was attacked hed be scared and leg it.
I saw a quote once from even bruce lee where he said something about martial arts and he added " but if somebody has got a knife- you run away!!" My boyfriend also told me that through his martial arts class he got interested in Parkour, which is teaching you how to train your body and mind how to run and overcome objects, so if youre in a situation where you cant fight, you run. But, it's totally natural and normal to be frightened after an attack like this, and i guess you'll have to give it time y'know, but please don't feel embarrassed about being scared, because ANYBODY would feel like this afterwards. Good luck. xx
