Are you sure its the clothes factor that changes your confidence? Sure nice clothes makes some people feel better, usually confidence comes from within.
As for new clothes, it depends on what you think your "style" is. Do you like the preppy look? Do you like the streetwear look? Indie look? Or do you have your own style that's a mix of these? After you figure that out you can narrow down the stores. Otherwise I would recommend going shopping with someone who you think has good taste - most girls love fashion and don't mind helping others out so don't be afraid to ask a friend who is a female! (I know I love help shopping for clothes for guys!)
