Go to the store, pick up a couple of cooking magazines and cook whatever looks the yummiest!!! That's what I love to do...
If this will be a romantic, intimate night then remember to b considerate of later things to come *wink wink*... so avoid heavy garlic, spinach (gets caught in teeth) or a super heavy alfredo (that'll make you feel bloated and stuffed to the brim). If I was cooking for my fella and a new job celebration, I'd make him salmon and shrimp, couscous, some ciabatta bread, white wine and a chocolate fondue dessert. Or, you could make him surf and turf - steak & shrimp, maybe some potatoes. If he's a heartier eater. And if you go with that option, pair it with a really great microbrew beer.
Good luck, sweet thing and have fun! Really, if you want to take the easy route, if you cook in nothing but an apron, your underwear and heels, you could make him a bowl of Chef Boyardee and it would be the greatest celebratory dinner ever. Anyway, bon appétit!
