I will be getting regular trims from now on, but I desperately need tips as to what I can do it right now. I have read/tried countless remedies to get my hair in better shape, but nothing works.I know I have curly hair, but I love having it straight.I wash my hair twice a week (I use a dry shampoo with keratin in it on the days I dont wash, which keeps my hair looking clean)and then straighten it. I use a Remington straghtener which leaks keratin/heat protectant onto the hair while straightening. I use a sulfate-free shampoo and have used deep conditioners.I currently dont use products designed for curly hair but I plan on starting (even though I like it straight) because they have the moisture that curly hair needs. So, I have a few questions. What are your favorite curly hair products? I want something "cheap", something that you can find at Wal-Mart, seeing as that I am on a budget. Also, I have been looking at maybe trying African-American hair care products. I am a white woman, but the products are aimed at very coarse, dry hair (which I unfortunately have). Are there any caucasion women who use African-American hair products? If so, what do you use?And I would also appreciate replies from African-American women as well, what products do you use on your hair? I would like very specific names of the products that you use, not just something like "deep conditioner" becuase there are tons of different kinds of those.I appreciate any answers, thank you.

Best advice... stop the heat... that's killing your hair...
I know you like it straight... I have curly hair that I wear straight.. BEST advice is to save your money and get a professional Keratin treatment.
they make a 6 week one that you can try for about 75 dollars... after you have one you have to be careful not to use products with sulfates in them... easy to find now even in the grocery store.
if you like the 6 week keratin (which the less you wash your hair the longer the treatment lasts) then you can save for the permanent treatment which around here runs 300 dollars. I have it about twice a year so in the long run I save money. I also get the formaldehyde free one... and for my hair it works just fine...
now... stop using shampoo on your hair. I usually use shampoo about every third wetting... and I can go anywhere from 2-5 days between wettings... so sometimes I only shampoo my hair twice a month. On the other hand, EVERY time it gets wet it gets conditioner... I put it on in the shower then if i want intense conditioning I cover it with a shower cap and do the rest of my bathing... usually 10 minutes or more... and then I rinse my hair well.
As my hairdresser said "you wash with conditioner" since sulfate free shampoos don't suds much it's similar to that..
Morrocan Oil (also going to seem very expensive to a young lady your age) is GREAT for your hair... do NOT get a knock off... it must be Morrocan Oil brand... brown glass bottle, blue label orange writing.. I get it at my hair salon...
also you should when you are not going out and even if you can bear it when you are... just let your hair dry naturally (after you towel dry by BLOTTING never rubbing) comb your fingers through your hair... lightly oil it as per the directions on the bottle... then finger shape your curls a bit.... you may learn to like them.
I love my curls... it's such an easy hair style... Look into DEVA cuts if you want to wear it curly... you only get a haircut about twice a year with a DEVA cut... it is cut dry and curl by curl... also expensive but averages out..
I do wear my hair straight now... my husband prefers it that way... and I've grown to like it as well.... but it's much more work and it costs so much more...
the key is heat protecting your hair by not blowing it dry and flat ironing it as often.... and when you do spray it with a good heat protector... and let it air dry as much as you can before you start the blow dry...
if you can manage it you will find that a good keratin treatment will make it so you only have to blow it out and not flat iron it.

I researched your hair issue and came up with these 3 links. I don't know how much research you have done on the actual products but after checking numerous links these looked the best and most informative for what you are looking for. What I noticed as a trend for curly frizzy hair solutions was to not blow dry, and to let your hair dry naturally without rubbing with a towel. Also to apply the product when hair is very wet. One site mentioned John Frieda's frizz ease and I have known people to use it, it's available at Walmart and a lot cheaper than many sites for products that popped up. And I had a perm once. If I brushed my hair throughout the day it caused frizz and no longer nice curls. When I got out of the shower I applied mousse (don't recall the exact brand but I know it wasnt fancy or expensive) and I scrunched my hair and didn't touch it anymore until the next time I showered. But I had to wash it every day. Hope this helps you!

About two months ago I turned on my computer and on my front page this girl was saying how beautiful her hair is using a Henna based treatment shampoo and leave in conditioning so I went right away and bought the shampoo, the conditioning and the leave in conditioning and my hair is not as kinky, at least I can comb thru it easily now. You can get this at Value Beauty and Sally, never seen it at walmart.I paid $3.59 for the shampoo, $2.29 for the Rinse out conditioning and $5.49 for the leave in conditioning.Go on line and read about Henna based hair product.
