I love my friend but I think he still likes his ex

ive been friends with a guy for over 3 years in the last year we got really close and have slept together, he says he really likes me and texts me every day,we have a good time when we go out togther.get on really well,he was with a girl and broke up and it broke his heart they broke up before we met,he still has feelings for her and when shes home they met but she has moved on,he has asked me out before but i didnt commentt,cause sometimes he goes all cold with me.at this stage i think i love him.i do tell him i like him and he says he does too but theres no mention of going out together.this has gone on for a year ,i dont know what too do im afraid if i say anything that i will lose him and if i dont i will never know

If you are strong enough, put some distance between your friendship for a while. If he wants to be with you, he will miss you and his feelings will become more clear to him. This is a good way to help him see his true feelings for you, good luck!
