That love yoiu felt for him made him feel suffocated and he felt he couldnt cope with it. I dont know why you feel guilty but Idont think you and he will get back as in hiis mind I sense he felt it was just too much for him. let him go because in 6 months you will meet another and feel sooooooo much in luv with him.

The reason he dumped you was not because he thought you didnt love him. It was something else.
Keep in casual contact. Like maybe send him cookies once a month (at most!). You'll create positive associations, and he'll keep you in his mind. If he is interest he'll reestablish something after a few months.
