I forgot to mention fats. Believe it or not, the fat you eat does not go to fat in your body, and actually aids in burning of fat in the body. However, try to eat healthy fats or oils. Omega 3 fats like fish oils. Cook with olive oil if you can. You can get some fat from milk in the morning, if your not getting fat in your diet, milkfat is better than junk food fats. If you prefer, get an omega 3 supplement, and drink 2% milk. Remember, nutrition (because we eat all day) is the most influencial way to good health, fitness is necessary, but only part of good health (because excercise is only 30 minutes a day). If you can, use any knowledge you gain to influence the grocery shopping at home. I suggest you do some more internet research and get involved with what the family is eating if it unhealthy. Here is a URL to the government food guide here in the U.S. for kids, which even though you may not think it in your mind, your body is still growing and needs proper nutrition. Experts have done the research, and you can set up your own food pyramid here. URL for younger people: http://teamnutrition.usda.gov/resources/mpk_close.pdf

I forgot to ask your height, but you did not mention your weight. THe best way to lose fat is to do 30 minutes of aerobic exercise first thing in the morning before you eat. Your body has fasted all night, so you will be burning fat. I caution you because of your age. If you are thin already, you could be burning protein, which is the building block of the body. You need protein to grow properly, as you also need other vitamins and forms of nutrition. Take a multivitamin selected for your age, once a day. Because you are growing still, when you feal like you are hungry EAT. That's your body telling you that you are growing. I suggest you plan to eat at least 5 small meals a day of low glycemic foods, plus proteins in the afternoon and evening. Include carbohydrates in your breakfast and lunch meals. A day might be like this, after a run breakfast 8am cereal, toast, natural oj, milk. 10 AM apple noon, meat, potato or pasta, veg, 2pm vegetable or fruit snack., 4pm another low glycemic snak, dinner, whatever mom cooks, try to stick to vegetables and proteins, 8 pm lo glycemic snack. The idea behind smaller meals is so as to not stretch your stomach, but still get the nutrition your body needs. If your doing it right, your parents will almost always see you with food in your mouth. Stay away from junk food and simple sugars, cokes and candies.

The first week of a diet you tend to lose alot of fluid and thats why you lose so much, generally it averages out to about 1-2 pounds after that but thats when it's actual fat you are starting to lose.
Take care.xx.

Hi
Everyone is different. I didnt lose a pound for 4 weeks! But then it averaged at 1-2 lb a week after that. I never go below 9 & half stone though. Thats what my body is comfortable with.
Its healthiest to lose 2 lb a week. But if you are not cutting out too many calories & eating healthily, your body will lose what it needs to lose.
I think your mate might be talking about the healthy weekly weight loss? I dont think its guaranteed you will only lose 2 lb a week. I think the starting weight has a lot to do with it.
