Honeypie is so right. I started at 13.6 stone and UK size 18 two years ago. I am now 10.6 stone and UK size 10. I started it by walking. I also watched what I ate. The plate went from 1/3 protein (red meat, pork, chicken), 1/3 veggie, and 1/3 starch like potatoes or pasta, to 1/4 lean protein (fish especially), 3/4 veggie. Took out potatoes and pasta, added whole grains and pulses. NO Coke, Fanta, fizzy sweet drinks. Low fat yogurt, non-fat milk. Increased fiber.
Borrowed DVDs of exercise programs, or watched them on the television and did them right in my own living room--no one except family to watch me! Simple 30 minute routines.
This all started by going to the doctor--who told me about what happens with high blood pressure (which I had, and which I no longer have), high cholesterol (ditto).
Walking cost no money at all, DVDs were bought or borrowed, telly is free.
Get a small pedometer (that counts the number of steps you take) and do 10,000 steps per day. That's the goal. Start low if you have to but aim for that goal.
Oh, and I started all this when I was 17 years older than you are now. Never too late.
Good luck as you find your new you!

You need to go see a doctor, find out if there are any other underlying medical reasons for you weight, then if he can send you to a dietician so you can learn about how to eat right.
Also, GET of your bum and start walking 30-45 minutes EVERY DAY. And don't stroll, WALK briskly ( no need to run). If you can not make the 30-45 min, then start with 15 and build it up. Once you can walk the 45 in good time then do it twice a day.
Walking combines with a healthy diet can help you loose weight and KEEP it off.
