reader, anonymous, writes (24 November 2006): Hi, when I was your age, if I really liked a boy and thought he was cute, I would just go quiet and sort of stare off, I think if a boy really likes you, he won't really be put off by the fact that you have run out of things to say to him, as he probably is used to girls doing that when they like him that or rambling on about nothing! It sounds like he is shy around you, too.
Just try to relax when you are around him and ask him some questions about himself, instead of talking about nothing, ask him who he is and what he likes to do, etc....I know you have known him for 6 years, but don't assume he has nothing new going on to tell you if you ask....

Or see if he wants to hang out try seeing a film he's been raving about or studying
