I was your age once & remember having lots of crushes on guys from a distance - but being too scared to ask them out! Sometimes I wish I'd been bolder - but looking back I'm glad I didn't now - as it can save a lot of humiliation.
First of all - you need to think are you mature enough to handle a relationship? I certainly wasn't at that age.
Secondly - if you both get on as friends, maybe it is nice to just keep things that way for now - after all - if he felt the same about you would you not have noticed? Or would one of his friends not have told you? You usually always know who fancies who from playground gossip.
I would say just keep things as friends for now - there is lots of time for love & relationships when you get older & if it's meant to be - you two will hook up then.
