I lied and told my girl I was 20, so she wouldn't think me too old. But I'm 24!

I lied about my age because my girlfriend might think I was too old for her. I met this girl 2 months ago and she told me she was 15 just a couple weeks ago. I wasn't sure what to do because I told her I was 20. She's 16 later this year but the truth is that I am 24.

I really dont know what to do. I wish I never told her that white lie because I really get on with her and have heaps in common. I have met her family and friends and they all like me. I am pretty immature for my age and I love this girl but if I tell her my age it will blow up in my face!

I know I have only got myself to blame for whatever happens but I don't want to lose her. Please help me

In reality, the 8 year age gap is small. However, since she is 16, it seems like a much bigger deal.

This is what I suggest you do. For one, tell her the truth. No solid relationship can grow if you have lied about something like this. Tell her now before it gets any worse.

Then, depending on her reaction, remain good friends with her. There is nothing wrong with being friends, but depending on Age of Consent laws, a relationship would be inappropriate.

Can you wait until she is 18 and you are 26? By then, the age gap won't matter and you can continue dating her.

finchy agony auntTell her the truth, that way she knows you love her and want to be with her despite the age differance.

i am worried a bit about the age differance though i think you should talk to her about it and decide what is best, (if you should both date someone your own age)

you say you have met her family so i realise you must care about her, so do what you think is best for her. xx

Serene Katy agony auntEm, she is a minor. If you loved her you could give her a bit of space to umm, mature. What's going on? I sincerely hope you are not sleeping with Miss Gymslip. If she were 18 and you 27 it would at least be legal. Can you wait that long? As for her parents, are they awake?
