 I am unclear as to why your ex would be an obstacle here and so I am a little wary of proceeding with too much advice. In general I would say that if you are lacking in confidence then maybe you should get a fw of your friends together for a night out and invite her along and see how things go between you on the night out. Otherwise I would need to know a little more before saying more. Sorry.
