I keep having dreams about my ex, what should I do?

Question - (29 September 2010) 1 Answers - (Newest, 30 September 2010)
A female United Kingdom age 41-50, anonymous writes:

I have been married for 6 months but keep dreaming of an ex boyfriend. I usually wouldn't be concerned about the odd dream but these are much more frequent sometimes a couple of times a week. Sometimes they are explicit, sometimes I tell him I am leaving my husband for him - infact I even dreamt of him on my wedding night! Which I thought was very, very weird!!!! The ex who frequents my dreams broke my heart and we are no longer in touch (my choice) I am committed to my husband and deeply in love and have no wish to restart a romantic involvement with my ex but these recurring dreams about him are making me wonder if I do still have feelings for him and should infact contact him again or if I should leave well alone. I could really do with some advice as I don't feel I can share this with anyone. Many Thanks, Pia

Fatherly Advice agony auntPia,

Relax, A dream about your ex is usually about your current relationship. Often your subconscious compares your current relationship to past relationships. If it sees a pattern that matches it could send you a dream as a warning. When you have frequent and disturbing dreams it is a good idea to write down as many details as possible as soon as you awaken. Then use a dream dictionary to help decode it. I use Dreammoods.com
