A female Canada, anonymous writes:

Hi everyone...I'm starting to feel dissatisfied with my relationship with my boyfriend. He's very nice and loving and all that, but that's about it. There are no special days, doing nothing that makes me feel special or anything that takes my breath away. For valentine's day, he didn't get me anything or do anything with me. In fact, he was at his friends for a couple of hours and came home late, while I had planned for and got a gift for him 2 weeks before the day, and cooked him his favorite dish the night before. Although he was very appreciative of what I got him and apologetic that he didn't get me anything.

My b'day comes up in two weeks and today I told him that I'm thinking that we should just have dinner with some close friends and all he said was sure. I named 3 people i wanted to invite n he said "uh-huh". I asked him to show some interest in it and he said "it's your b'day, what do u want me to say?" I am always interested when he talks about thigns like this and discuss them with him enthusiastically. For his b'day, he was in another country (with his family) so I made him a video of our time together with pictures and videos with the emphasis on him, just to do something special for him.

Is it so wrong to expect the same from him? I mean, is it wrong of me to expect him to make me feel special on special occasions? We've been together 15 months and live together.

AskEve agony auntYou need to talk to him and tell him how you feel. Tell him you feel neglected, unloved and taken for granted. He needs to reassure you by his ACTIONS not by his words. It's easy enough to say "don't be silly babe, of course I love you," they can say anything to get you off their back.

Let him know it's been so bad you've even thought of leaving him. Point out to him that he never seems interested in anything you do or say, he almost makes you feel invisible! Ask him to tell you one thing he's done for you in the past month, see if he can mention anything. Let him know if things don't improve then you're seriously thinking of ending it with him.

Hopefully this will give him the wake up call he needs and if things don't improve any I suggest you move out for a while yourself to get your head together and decide what you really want. Hopefully it won't come to that but you certainly DO need to talk to him... seriously!

onewish89hmb agony auntIt is not wrong of you to want him to show some interest. Maybe he does love you but doesn't know how to show him. Sit down and have a long talk with him and tell him how you feel and tell him you feel you need more. If he can't do that, maybe it is better off being friends.
