 Some guys can only get aroused when they want to get aroused. That does not mean he is not attracted to you. I have a few female friends, some of which I find quite attractive but I can hug them without getting an erection because I do not wish to be aroused. It is difficult to explain so I will just say that it is not something you have to worry about. That is just a guess though, if it is really bugging you, just ask him if he is attracted to you.
And I have never heard of fried chicken giving anyone a boner.
