We've been best friends since 1st grade, and i dont think of him that way only as a brother, we call and text and hang out a-lot, but he always makes me uncomfortable, he says he loves and wants to be with me, and that i'm the one for him, and says it kills him to see me and my boyfriend. I dont love him at all, im madly in love with my boyfriend, but i dont want to lose him. Theres another problem my friend is what you call a Emo, and is also friends with people in gangs, i'm worried he might get them to hurt my boyfriend he already gets violent and threatens him when im not around, i don't know what to do, can someone please help me, and give me advise...

reader, anonymous, writes (25 October 2010): You need to tell your best friend to back off and that he makes you uncomfortable. Tell him you love your boyfriend very much and only think of him as a brother.
If he doesn't stop or tries to get his gang friends involved, then he isn't a very good friend anyway.
If your boyfriend gets threats of violence or feels like there's suspicious activity, he can report it to the police.
And for the record, emo doesn't mean one who has violent tendencies; its a term to categorize a certain type of post-punk rock music. Your friend needs anger management and counseling.
