Go for it. :) Let him be the one to tell you if it's an inappropriate relationship. Maybe he's planning on leaving after this year, or maybe he'll like you so much it could turn into an exciting secretive love affair! Or maybe not. But, you won't know till you give it a shot.
Find some reason to strike up a conversation... anything. Your child's school project, the weather, school funding, or lack of school funding, etc. Don't approach him with any expectations other than just to make friendly chat. See what happens after that! (Good luck. I personally hope that you end up having a secretive love affair, and post about it later!!)
