He probably does, though if you were to ask him about it he's more likely to pull your hair and run away than tell the truth.
Go ahead and ask him out yourself. Do it in private and make it sound like two friends spending a night together. If he fancies you, he'll accept. Seeing a movie together is always a good choice.
