It all started one day while running outside in p.e. class. I came inside after running a mile and it was difficult to breathe. I got really dizzy and it was extremely scary. Eventually though it went away and i was fine. Anyway, now up to once or twice a day this happens. I feel as though i need to take a deep breath to get enough air but i cant. I feel a wheeze in my chest and right below my ribs. It is the weirdest thing and it usually happens at night. It is currently happening and every time I inhale I hear a squeak like I'm wheezing. I have no history of asthma or allergies or anything which is what confuses me. No specific activity triggers it but I noticed it happens a lot when I'm cold, but it happens other times too. I went to the doctor and they checked my oxygen intake which was 99% which they said was great. My blood pressure was slightly elevated but nothing major. They made me blow into a ttube to test for asthma and the results were perfect and showed no signs of asthma. They said they didn't know what was wrong with me and to go home and if it happens again they'll send me for a chest xray. I went home and a few days later it happened again. This time it was worse and I started getting really dizzy. I went to the hospital and once again they checked my oxygen and it was 100% this time. The doctor listened to my heart and said he could hear a few slight wheezes but nothing bad. I got blood work done which came back normal. I got an ekg which came back perfect. And I got a chest xray which came back normal as well. My point is that everything is showing up normal but I still have this problem with my breathing. I want to fix it but I don't know what it is. If anyone has experienced this or has any idea what it is please please please let me know. Your help is much appreciated. Thank you. Reply to this Question Share |

They have ruled out it being anything physically wrong with you, it is more than possible that it is an anxiety attack, which is where you have a sudden on-set of fear well up inside of you, and the fear grows to such an extreme, that you start to struggle to breathe, and that in-turn scares you and it can become worse. Have you had any changes to your life of the major type? A death or a bad fight with someone who is close to you that you hold guilt for? Has something happened that you feel guilt for at all? Those and many other reasons can be a trigger for an anxiety attack.Go back to your Doctor, and discuss with the Doctor the possibility of it being anxiety attacks as the cause, they are very common, and a lot can be done now to help them. (I'm NOT a Doctor, that is just my opinion based on experience myself.)

your young.... do you eat right and drink lots of water? it could be lack of nutrition. i studied and practice holistic medicine. it changed my life. theres a true way to take care of your body. you are a living thing and food you eat needs to be alive too. crap food is dead. vegies, fruits are alive, meat is good too. theres to much to say, but go to a natural or holistic Dr.... M.D's treat or suppress whats wrong at the time instead of finding out way the body is doing this.. in high school i used to pass out, get dizzy everything, sick... so see what you are doing to your body and make changes. keep me posted.. good luck
