Ooohhh,
They had Dr. Christina Northrop on Oprah today. She has written a wonderful book on menopause. One technique she described was "putting your hand on your upper heart (chest) and your lower heart (your pudenda) and focusing your thoughts. Bring all your warmth and joy into your upper heart. (This is like meditation, or Chinese medicine, BTW.) Then bring your focus down to your lower heart." What this practice did was to increase the blood flow into that area. The next technique was to do your Kegal Exercises, they also increase the pelvic muscles and the blood flow in the area. The other thing that she mentioned is that women do have a drop of testosterone after menopause. You should find a specialist that will do blood tests on you to see what the balance is in your hormone levels, and what they can do for you. The ONE thing that Dr. Northrop did point out first though, was, that women are not like men, and that is why there isn't a "Viagara" for us. Women tend to be multi-taskers even in the sex department. Our focus on sex isn't just the mechanical. We need to get stimulation from many different levels, romantic, our mind, our surroundings, our moods, our focus. If you can figure out how to focus your thoughts on YOU and turning yourself on, and make a date with your husband in order to make sure you are both on the same page. She also recommended self-sessions or masturbation at least three times per week, at least 30 minute sessions, but I would go so far as to say an apple a day keeps the doctor away. There's another old adage, If you don't use it, you lose it. That is very important for EVERY menopausal woman. It helps to keep focus and it helps with lubrication and elasticity. Well, that's what I could relay from all that I know on the subject!
