A female United Kingdom age 30-35, anonymous writes:

i have just realized i have no friends. There are people i hang out with at school and stuff but they are not REAL friends. and i feel extremely lonely.

Since last moth i have become detached from people...i've stopped going out at the weekend and i don't call my mates anymore, and i think its because i find it really hard to communicate with my peers. its like i've given up on people!i'm bored of my friends...i fact i'm bored of my life. everyday i dream about moving somewhere different and having a new scene - i've lived in the same house for 14 years.

i don't know why i'm like this. i've always been an introvert but i've never been a loner. is their something wrong with me?

No, of course there's nothing wrong with you!

You're 'at that age' in life when you realise there's more to life than your little circle of mates and your immediate family and you yearn for something different. You perhaps dream of far-off places and foreign cultures that you want to get to know more about.

I went through the same thing as you at the age of 16 and decided to do something about it. I knew there was more to life than standing at a workbench in an engineering factory for 8 hours a day, playing with pieces of metal. I'd done that for 13 months since leaving school. I then made a bold decision which changed my life which to this day I have absolutely no regrets about. And I'm sitting pretty in a financial sense because of it. Read my profile and you'll see what I did. Your future is what you make it, and is entirely in your hands.
